Important changes if you do business in the EU

6 October 2009

Do you do business with companies in other EU countries? If so, you may be affected by changes to the levying of VAT coming into effect on 1 January 2010. You might want to consider preparing for the changes at this stage.

The changes come into effect on 1 January 2010. You can prepare yourself by visiting the site www.belastingdienst.nl/eubtw2010.

Which changes will affect you?

That information is given at www.belastingdienst.nl/eubtw2010. Put simply, a change is being made to the rules that determine the EU country in which a service is subject to VAT.

Goods suppliers and service providers will be subject to the new Intra-Community services (ICP) return. From that time onwards you will need to reclaim VAT from other EU countries electronically via the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration.
