In the field of eCustoms security is central in the short term . It will then be possible to check incoming and outgoing goods flows on the basis of risk information. For this Customs requires some information on the goods and transport before entry or dispatch. The business sector has to submit data electronically to the customs administration.
In the long term administrative burden reduction and paperless procedures are central. The European Commission wishes to achieve that the business sector can submit the data of the goods and transport on one location (where the trader has its registered office) within the European Union. Furthermore, the European Commission requests that these data should only be submitted once. The exact details are still being developed.
